Martina G. Vijver is professor of Ecotoxicology at Leiden University since 2017. Her focus is on obtaining realistic predictions and measurements of how existing and emerging chemicals & nanomaterials potentially affect our natural environment and the organisms living therein. She is especially interested in field realistic testing, and works on pesticides, metals, microplastics and nanomaterials. She is amongst all part of the EU Patrols consortium in which advances models and assays are developed to predict the long-term consequences of nanomaterial exposure to human health and a variety of environmental species. She also contributes to the EU NanoInformatiX project. She loves earthworms, isopods, daphnia and zebrafish larvae.
